This is a pre-release from PR #80 and an exact copy of V2.3.1 release by @FanDjango to support more devices by switching to old EC addresses when EC cannot be read. Changes include:

portio.cpp is more or less recoded. It supports old and new EC addresses and will switch on failure. fanstuff.cpp has also been modified to a certain extent and will profit from some more TLC in the future. Renaming some variables, reordering and reformatting some code. Most of that is trivial, but the sheer amount makes it look scary.
